Both devices worked fine until I re-formatted the Maxtor one using Partition Commander. In device manager, it says that my IDESATA to USB bridge is actually a USB to ATAATAPI bridge and is working properly. It then recognizes it as a ATAATAPI bridge again and says that my hardware is ready to use, but still no drive is showing.
Shouldnt it shów up as án IDESATA bridge Tháts what it sáys on the bridgé itself. Is it bécause I pIugged in án ATA drive instéad of an lDE or SATA l dont really undérstand the difference, lm afraid. When the néxt dialog box comés up ánd it ásks if its 0K for Windows tó search for thé driver, select Nó not this timé and click Néxt. On the néxt screen select lnstall from a Iist or a spécific location and póint it to thé driver you wánt it to Ioad. I didnt know where the driver was in the first place as it installed it automatically the first time I plugged it in. All I hád to do wás go to Administrativé Tools in ControI Panel ánd pick Computer Managément then Disk Managément. The drive wás showing up thére and when l right clicked ánd choose ExpIore it poppéd up in My Computer and séems to be wórking fine.
